WHO IS BIG RED?
I’m Big Red.
People sometimes assume I’m a sound guy or a computer nerd, but I don’t really think like that. I think like a musician on the floor.
I’ve been playing music since I was five years-old, and I still approach everything from that place first - feel, performance, intention. But I also think about something bigger than the notes: what I want the listener to feel, and what kind of world I want them to get lost in when they hear my songs.
I can usually hear a rough demo and already imagine where it wants to go. Not in a fixed or technical way, just a sense of what vibe it could turn into when everything is fully realized.
I’m constantly listening to music and learning from it. That’s how I stay sharp, and how I keep my approach fresh.
At the end of the day, I just want to make music that makes people feel something real, and be a fun person to make it with while it’s happening.

THE BIG RED VISION
Music should be made because it SOUNDS GOOD, not because it follows the rules of what music is "supposed" to sound like.
I work with artists as a creative partner to build records from the ground up, shaping ideas into fully realized songs through recording, production, arrangement, mixing, and mastering.
Most records don’t need more plugins or more layers, they need better decisions earlier in the process.
My focus is always the same:
-
TRUST the artist’s instinct
-
Capture the STRONGEST possible performances from the start
-
Keep only what SERVES the record, whether in arrangement, performance, or mix decisions.
If something sounds good, it stays. If it doesn’t serve the song, cut it.
-
No overproduction.
-
No cutting corners on the recordings
-
No “we’ll fix it in post.”
The goal is to make the record as strong as possible at the SOURCE, capturing REAL performances and committed decisions so the mix is about ENHANCEMENT, not repair.
This is a COLLABORATIVE process, led by the artist’s vision and instinct, and shaped through my professional input.

EXAMPLES OF MY WORK
What the song sounds like when I get it vs what it sounds like when I am done with it.
DICKIES GREEN PLAID JACKET - ROGAN MEI
I got this song as a demo from Rogan, he had written the chord structure, melody and lyrics. I helped with the arrangement and did all the post-production (with the guidance of Rogan's artistic vision of course). I also wrote and performed the bass-line as his session bass player.
TWO TWENTY-FIVE - TINY STRINGS
I got this song as stems, the whole arrangement and recording was done by the band. I was responsible for the post-production including the mix, master and creative production.
